THE RICHTER GROUP

The Richter Group is a family business that was founded 1971 in Hürtgenwald-Horm close to Düren as a repair workshop for the paper industry by Wolfgang Richter. Since its foundation, Richter has worked primarily as a service provider in mechanical engineering for the paper industry. In the initial phase, Richter's focus was mainly on stock preparation, but expanded later on to paper machines with a focus on rolls. Today, the products that can be offered cover the range from pulpers to rewinders.

Over the past 50 years, the Richter Group has grown continuously and today produces at 3 sites: Düren (GE), Karhula (FI) and Hürtgenwald-Horm (GE). Richter sees itself first and foremost as a manufacturer-independent service partner and extended workbench for its customers. We work in partnership with our customers to solve their wishes and problems.

We refer to our optimizations in the repair of components, units and rolls as Richter Retrofit.

Our Plants

Plant Karhula: Rolls & Vacuum pumps (Finland)

In 2013 Richter acquired the former Valmet Plant in Karhula (Finland), where  we are specialized on repairs, general overhauls and manufacturing of new function rolls (up to 80 to) for paper machines with paper web up to 10 m. Due to the experience of the Karhula employees, Richter is able to offer service for all kind of rolls, especially deflection compensated rolls up to 80 tons, swimming as well as zone controlled ones. During the past decades, more than 400 new deflection compensated rolls have been manufactured under Valmet.

Plant Düren: Rolls & Vacuum pumps (Germany)

In 2001 Richter acquired the production of the former paper machine manufacturer Wolff & Söhne in Düren, now known as Plant II. In Plant II we offer a full service for rolls and suction rolls up to a bale length of 6 meters. This includes grinding, turning, balancing and thermal coating for rolls. The applied coatings and covers range from developed in-house ceramic-composite coatings to non-stick coatings and thermal sprayed roll coatings. Also Vacuum pumps are repaired, renewed and energy efficiently improved in our Plant II.

Plant Horm: Pulp & Reject (Germany)

This is the Plant, where the Richter Comany started. The production focus is still on the development and production of special machines for stock preparation in the paper industry. Excellent customer service, planning and optimization of machines as well as as their regeneration and wear protection have been focus from the very beginning. In particular, wear protection through materials developed in house, e.g. for hardfacing of rotors, screws etc. was the basis for the great success and the associated growth in the first 25 years.
